(35,961 posts)I get that there's a small but very vocal group of DUers who hate Manny and appear in nearly any thread he starts attacking him, but why don't they have the ability that most adults have to ignore him and move on knowing that just because they hate him others don't and shouldn't feel guilty because they do?
I just read a post that pissed me off a bit. It was one that called him a racist and a misogynist and implied that anyone who doesn't agree with them on that are 'protecting' Manny because racism and misogyny aren't important issues to them. Fuck that for a joke. I'm a woman and a feminist and I don't like racists or misogynists (nor anti-Semites, homophobes, Islamophobes etc). Manny's not any of those things and it reminds me of the heady days when the I/P forum at DU2 moved really fast and I could count on being called a fan of Hamas, anti-Semite, and terrorist supporter on a daily basis by a few now banned DUers who just didn't like me at all.
My suggestion to the few vocal folk who dislike Manny and can't stop talking about him either in GD or in any of those 'protected' groups they use is to stop and have a think about how they'd feel if someone was calling them all sorts of names and attacking them. Would that be okay with them? And before they think to themselves 'ah, but I'm not a troll!', here's a newsflash. They don't get to define for DU who is and isn't a troll...
