Everyone wants to get "more and progressive Dems" elected. That is the constant refrain around here. The Senate is set to flip back to blue. But what about those progressive candidates that may not be able to raise mountains of cash? They would have a chance by riding a non-corporate funded candidate. If we insist that only two BILLION dollars can BUY the presidency, then what hope does anyone but corrupt and bribed politicians have. It is a vicious cycle and we must do something to end it.
I have said here that I think Bernie could be a new Teddy Roosevelt. Roosevelt invented the term "bully pulpit" and I think he would use it for things other than the TPP. Bernie has experience in both chambers of Congress--he knows the rules and where the bodies are buried. He has had a much longer time to learn and observe than Obama who was only there for a short time and entered the White House still believing in "bipartisanship". I think that Bernie wouldn't let dems like Lieberman or Nelson off the hook when they torpedoed his legislation and he would have powerfull allies in Senate Majority Leader Elizabeth Warren and House Majority Leader Lee (if she is not his VP pick).
And I don't care if he always wins. At this point all I care about is that he doesn't lie, stab me in the back, or doesn't fight.
