(19,582 posts)Wow. It's denial at a massive level. The state poll in VA was discussed in a hilarious thread. They think they are winning VA with a poll showing they are down 16. The standard response you see in every thread about polls is, "well I would bet that poll's sample is Dem +16" No one even bothers to point out that there are more Dems than Reps in this country so that doesn't matter. No one bothers to point out how random sampling works. And no one bothers to point out the error in their math even if points 1 and 2 didn't exist. Say if it was a provable fact that there are exactly the same number of Dems as Reps everywhere, a Dem oversampling by 16 points still would translate to a 16 point lead, they simply don't understand proportions.
There are zero real polls showing Trump tied. Even LA Times has him down 2 today. And the state polls are devastating to him. He is down double digits in states that he has to win to get to 270.
I try to think about DU and how we'd all be reacting to Hillary being down to dramatically. It would be pretty depressing here, but it would no doubt be pretty sober as far as accepting reality. I learned my lesson in 04', I was left hoping that Kerry would outperform the polls that all showed him down 1-3 points. While I still think Ohio was stolen, the results came in right with the polls. You think they would have learned with the Unskewed Romney fiasco. He was down 3-5 in the polls and he lost by 5 and they were completely stunned. Rather than learning their lesson they are doubling down and multiplying by 3. Trump is way way down in the polls and it's worse in the state polls. They are in for a painful election day unless they start accepting reality.
