Julian Castro-TX has not ran for or held any statewide elected positions. Running for the US Senate in 2018 and winning outright or losing by a narrow to high single digit margin would increase his chances of being a viable candidate. Castro would be an excellent VP candidate.
Cory Booker-NJ does not satisfy the progressive base.
Tom Perriello-VA if he wins the Democratic nomination for Governor of VA and the November General Election in 2017 would make him a viable candidate to stop Terry from winning the 2020 Democratic Presidential Primary.

He also would be a much better Presidential candidate than Hillary Clinton.

I am no fan of Terry but I believe we are underestimating his Presidential candidacy.

Distraction The battle is today and it is not a sport. Dream-teaming about 2020 is a waste.

You misunderstand the OP. The "Democratic Party" isn't "forcing" anyone on us....

The only way he would get the nomination is if he got more votes in the primary.
