(243 posts)When whistleblowers leak information that they believe citizens should know, I'm usually torn as well. Of course we acknowledge it's a crime, but the information being revealed is often critically important.
However, in speaking with a friend in the IC, he pointed out a few things about this case.
Her social media (her *likes* and her posts) indicate a very favorable impression of Russia and Putin, as we've learned about many on the left.
The Intercept is known to be rather favorable toward Putin.
So her leaking it there may not have been for the benefit of the US citizens, but instead benefit to Putin, revealing the methods of how NSA was tracking Russian hacking and progress.
The IC and law and order peeps are always upset about leakers and see it as pure criminality, but in this case the purpose of her sharing it may be more nefarious and not for our benefit at all.
