(6,496 posts)Cabbage patch kids, pound puppies... I had those toys too. I remember riding my bike all day long in the summer time, just going wherever I wanted. In the winter, I'd go all over the place cross country skiing. I felt like I had a lot of freedom then and I loved just being outside and exploring. That's still one of my favorite things, I just don't get to do that as much as an adult.
I remember things like the Challenger explosion because they talked about it a lot at school. It was big deal because Christa McAuliffe was a school teacher and also from the about the same area. She was from New Hampshire. I grew up in Maine. Also, I think because she was about the same age as a lot of my teachers at the time. It seemed like it was a really big deal for them and so it was very sad that ended in tragedy.
I remember also when they brought the Berlin Wall down and when Regan met with Gorbachev. There are other things that I just wasn't aware of until I was older, like I wasn't aware of the Chernobly incident until I was a teenager I think.
