How could Sessions possibly know what Comey and Trump discussed once he left the room? Comey comes up to him later and says "don't leave me alone with Trump again" but Sessions doesn't ask why or what was discussed? Even if Sessions did know the topic was Russia he wasn't asked to discuss or participate in it, just run interference with his boss when he is directly trying to communicate with a direct report employee. Sessions could easily have done that without interfering with the recusal.
