(14,490 posts)There's not a human on this planet that can say with absolute certainty what caused this man to do this heinous act. Our medical profession cannot diagnose a living person with mental issues with absolute certainty. That's because we don't have tools with absolute precision to diagnose human brain functions and may never have.
So, why on earth would we - or even professionals - think we could diagnose someone that's dead?
Our MDs and psychiatrists use the experience they have to "propose" a mental diagnosis, and then literally experiment with various drugs and/or therapy and carefully observe the results. Then, they make adjustments and changes to the meds, and keep trying until some acceptable result is achieved. In other words, it's a trial and error process - but with vast experience to guide the process.
This sort of speculative after-the-fact diagnostics can actually be damaging to those who might need these medications, but read this noise on-line and instead, back away from treatment.
IMO, the Hill.com should retract their speculative dialog.
