It could possibly vote on it's independence and if the people in P.R. chose to become a sovereign country, then it could ally itself with some other country. That 200 mile territorial water would be a big bargaining chip.

I'm only pointing out that Puerto Rico is more than a pretty island. Every nation on Earth is trying to amass resources. If trump screws around like he is, he could alienate the Puerto Ricans to the point they'd want to leave the U.S. They'd have options.

I hope that this disgusting humanitarian crisis pushes them toward statehood and voting rights on their island. And they don't forget who is trying to murder them.
