The Kansas Republican who said of Democratic congressional candidate Sharice Davids, “your radical socialist kick boxing lesbian Indian will be sent back packing to the reservation,” has resigned as a precinct committeeman.

Johnson County Republican Party chairman Mike Jones confirmed that Michael Kalny of Shawnee resigned his post Wednesday in the aftermath of the Facebook message becoming public earlier this week.

“He reflected an apologetic attitude and didn’t want to bring negative attention on the party or candidates running in this area,” Jones said.

“Little Ms. Pritchett — you and your comrades stealth attack on Yoder is going to blow up in your leftist face,” Kalny wrote. “The REAL REPUBLICANS will remember what the scum DEMOCRATS tried to do to Kavanaugh in November. Your radical socialist kick boxing lesbian Indian will be sent back packing to the reservation.” Roughly 50 exclamation points followed the end of the message.

Kansas Republican official unleashes racist, homophobic attack on Sharice Davids #NativeVote18

A Kansas Republican official unleashed a racist, homophobic attack on Sharice Davids Tuesday.

According to the Kansas City Star, a Facebook message from precinct committeeman Michael Kalny of Shawnee to Anne Pritchett, president of the Johnson County Democratic Women’s north chapter, attacked Davids.

Davids is running against Rep. Kevin Yoder.

Davids, Ho Chunk, would be the first Native American woman to ever serve in Congress and would be the first lesbian to represent Kansas. Davids told the Star that the hate message “doesn’t represent Kansas values, and it doesn’t represent the values of the Republicans we know, many who support this campaign.”

This comes on a good day for Davids. She was endorsed by former Vice President Joe Biden. “The people of Kansas deserve a representative who understands their concerns and shares their struggles,” Biden said. “Sharice lives those struggles herself and has focused her career on creating opportunities for middle-class families to get ahead. That work will continue in Congress, where Sharice will reach across the aisle to get things done for her district and our country. She’ll work hard to expand access to healthcare, to protect people with pre-existing conditions, and to make sure everyone has opportunities to succeed.”
