Trump campaign adviser Lara Trump remarked Thursday that Germany Chancellor Angela Merkel's decision to allow migrants into the country was "one of the worst things that ever happened to Germany."
“When there was a march across Europe by a million people who wanted to get into Western Europe, Angela Merkel let them in,” Fox Business host Stuart Varney said during an interview with Trump on the network.
“It was the downfall of Germany, it was one of the worst things that ever happened to Germany,” Trump responded. “This president knows that, he’s trying to prevent that from happening here.”
Lara Trump, who is married to the president's son Eric Trump, made the remark as part of a discussion about a migrant caravan that Varney said is headed toward the U.S.-Mexico border. He said that the footage of the migrants reminded him of migrants moving through Europe.
