was experimenting with Electric Vehicles in the late Seventies and into the eighties. They had a fleet of Ford Bronco's (both Regular and mid sized)and F 100 and and a couple of Aero Star Vans equipped with Electric Motors and Powered with Golf Cart Batteries in Series. And their Natural Gas Division also had a good sized fleet. My brothe's Power Plant had one of the F 100's for their parts runner and general Station gopher wagon. And yes they ran these for more that a year in all kinds of weather.

All these vehicles were turned in to be run through the Scrap Crusher . Funny thing, one survives yet today. You may have seen it in a Wind Energy Commercial.

In 2003,our market center got a Electric Curbside Step Van to test. When I got my turn,we kept the Van in the Metro because of Battery run time, was really surprised as to its power and handling. Since I was within thirty miles of the Shop, just loved it. Only scary part was, people walking on the sidewalks or in Crosswalk areas, could not hear you coming. Became a quick habit of toot on the horn when any walkers were near intersections.

My run time on a single charge lasted my 14 hour day. There again,my true engine run time was maybe six hours max.
