In reply to the discussion: Barr says 'draconian' lockdown measures should be reexamined by May [View all]Midnightwalk
(3,131 posts)Just a deadline. Theyd also like us to argue the date and ignore the lack of a plan.
The early date should get our attention but the lack of a plan is a disaster.
Whatever the date, we will get to a point where it will be difficult to remain locked down. People will start to ignore warnings and if active cases and deaths are down will clamor to get back to normal
Now is the time to figure out what the new normal will look like. Are there requirements for masks? Adequate testing available? Recommended triggers for going back in?
Or do we just wing it and half the people in the country (geographically all the country) goes out and has cinco de mayo celebrations including counties that are just approaching peak? People have put off vacations and will want to travel.
Give us the outline of the plan. Prove you have one. Let us track whether were at the infection/testing/protection levels needed. You know, the things we should have been tracking a month or two ago or more.
Otherwise Im convinced well just wing it and the second wave will be too large again.
Note that Im not agreeing with May but pointing out we will eventually end lockdown and the experts, not barr or trump or kushner, should be able to say something intelligent about it.
