I don't really see how they can cram that many kids in there, either. Notice in the Mongolian video, the largest kids come out last - they each must have had several smaller kids on top of them. I get images of "turtles all the way down" but with kids.

The linguist John R. Ross also associates James with the phrase:

The following anecdote is told of William James. [...] After a lecture on cosmology and the structure of the solar system, James was accosted by a little old lady.

"But what does this second turtle stand on?" persisted James patiently.

To this, the little old lady crowed triumphantly,

"It's no use, Mr. James—it's turtles all the way down."
