As long as they aren't hooked to the internet any attempt to change anything would be caught in the act or with the count. The machines have a paper ballot that goes with it. Even if you DID change the votes inside the machine, the paper votes would still say "Biden". And the discrepancy would be caught in the count or recount. Because the paper ballots are fed into a standalone machine to be counted. And that machine is also not hooked to the internet. At least here in Ga that's how they work.
What you're suggesting is exactly what the trumpets down here say happened in 2020
