(12,369 posts)41. And if the security of the nukes is anything like it was in the old Soviet Union,
then it was a special unit of the KGB who controlled the warheads, while the actual missiles are controlled by the Strategic Rocket Forces, so I would think that the same system is in place, where a special unit of the FSB would have control over the warheads and maybe there is dissention within those ranks also who might not release the codes unless Russia itself was under nuclear attack.
Just a thought to mull on.

The tritium has to be replaced about every 10 years in the warhead. Now that is just them bomb
