Dec 2012

I grew up in the 50s and every kid practically in my home town had a gun...I got my first one for Christmas when I was 10...a Winchester pump 22....I was so proud of that gun....and guns were everywhere in a small town in Montana.
But violence was not...in the movies the hero shot the gun out of the hand of the bad buy and took him into custody...compare that now to present day...there is no shooting the gun out of his hand...you blow them away literally...and if you play the video game you get all the blood and guts spilling out like it was real...see that a thousand times and it WILL have some effect on a kid...
Not only that but the sheer volume of it is very different than it was...ask yourself how many times a day do you see a murder on TV?....back then it was seldom...today you can find some sort of extreme violence at any time with a click of the remote...and if that is the kind of stimulation you like you can stimulate yourself from morning to night if you like....and in the process desensitize yourself to it.
I think that is the biggest problem we have...how to ween people off of the violence as a stimulus.

People needs jobs and healthcare. All they get are guns and drugs and propaganda. nt valerief Dec 2012 #1
