23. There is a theory of testing damage awards

I once heard a lawyer propose that the test for damages should be to run an ad in the paper offering to do to someone whatever was done to the plaintiff, and then to pay them the proposed damage amount.

"If a line forms that's more than a block long, then the award is too high."
