In reply to the discussion: Guns & Ammo Fires Editor After Publishing Editorial Calling for Gun Control [View all]Paladin
(28,280 posts)46. How sad that things have gotten to this state.
You're right, I'm one of the "good ones." I'm a liberal and a Democrat, and I've owned and used guns since I was in elementary school; firearms used to be a central interest of mine: I know the difference between a magazine and a clip, and in my time I've fired everything from a .22 short rim-fire to a .375 H&H Magnum. I've never advocated anything close to the banning of all guns. I'm OK with concealed carry, as long as it's based on solid training and subject to regular review/renewal. And I am well aware that the overwhelming majority of gun owners are law-abiding. All that said, however, I still believe that the overall gun situation in the U.S. has descended to a wildly unhealthy status. I walked away from firearms and shooting sports years ago, because I no longer cared for the sort of company I was having to keep. What a shame that it's all turned into nothing more than a shouting match at this point. There's some dark entertainment to be had in the shouting, and that's why I keep at it.

OP
I wish more gun owners felt the same way, and more Democrats would come out like McAuliffe.

Metcalf will probably have to sleep in a bulletproof vest for years to come...

Trying to rhetorically change weapons to hardware, maybe you should change swords to plows instead

Do you honestly think people are responsible if attracted to "tactical" weapons outside a war zone?

Yeah, like some of your buddies "optimize their gunz" in case they have to clear a room.

They'll never admit it, but they're the flip side of those they belittle and insult
