2. I just never saw see how appointing the wife of McConnell isn't flat out bribery

As Majority Leader of the Senate,, McConnell would probably occupy the most powerful position determining any future impeachment and, presently, he is one of only two Republicans in charge of the bicameral Legislative Branch within our Trump challenged system of checks and balances. Yes, choosing Chao is a 24/7 insurance policy by Trump to keep McConnell batting away all Trump's flies, from possible espionage to stated intentional ethics violations.

And as far as Chao being an odd pick for Sec'y of Transportation...consider Trump's & the Repub's "infrastructure Program," which is sure to be rotten with "Public Private" Corporate giveaways of taxpayers billions, maybe even use of Private Prison labor!
Of all the "Sec'y" jobs McConnell might be given a choice for his wife, this seems the least hassle, lowest profile with the biggest pot of gold on the horizon
