I've dabbled in all 3. The top salesman I ever knew kept a mirror on his desk to watch himself when he was on the phone; not for ego reasons, but to remind himself to really smile. You can learn to fake sincerity, but you can't fake a smile on your face unless you put one there, and it's absolutely key to verbally communicating sincerity. Well, of a friendly sort, that is!
