11. Colbert could have really zinged christie on snow

I didn't watch Colbert last night because chris christie was on but I can't believe christie had the gall to go after anyone about snow! And I can't believe Colbert, who lives in Montclair, didn't use the following for a comeback.

The election that saw christie administration become governor was also the very first election ever for the post of Lt. Governor in New Jersey. kim guadagno, christie's running mate, was elected New Jersey's first Lt. Governor. The senate president used to take over for the governor when the governor was out of state or incapacitated. Now we had a Lt. Governor to perform the critical duty of backing up the governor when needed.

But when chris christie first took office, New Jersey had a forecast for a blizzard that everyone KNEW was coming, unlike the November storm Murphy had to deal with that was originally forecast as turning to rain for most of the state. But here's what actually happened and what Colbert should have thrown back in chris christie's face when he had the nerve to criticize Governor Murphy. New Jersey roads and highways weren't plowed for DAYS after more than two feet of snow fell while both christie and guadagno were out of state on vacation!

""Thirty-one inches of snow. Hundreds of serious incidents, roads closed down, states of emergency. This is not an insignificant incident. This is serious," he said. "I think it points to a real revaluation of at least the way this office is being handled in the future."

Gov. Christie defends decision to stay in Florida during blizzard, requests federal aid
https://www.nj.com/news/index.ssf/2011/01/gov_christie_defends_decision.html

"Gov. Chris Christie praised his administration and defended his decision to remain in Florida during this week’s blizzard at his first public appearance since nearly 3 feet of snow fell in some parts of the state."

...

"As for all the people who were trapped in their homes and the local streets that remain white just a few blocks away, Christie called on mayors to "buck up and take responsibility for the fact that they didn’t do their job."

chris christie actually said that while he and guadagno were both on vacation when they KNEW a major blizzard was coming.

Colbert should have know that and he should have used it to slap down christie, that profligate liar.
