Remember with Christopher Plummer.
Saw a really good one at Seattle Film Festival two years ago that never made it to general distribution called West of Redemption. Shame it never was released because it was one ending you never saw coming.
It's always a good movie when the end surprises you.

There are a few scenes which include on-screen violence; the film is more character/narration driven

netflix has a lame multi part version of the Mist. the setup is longer, involves parents and teens
