I am a decent cook but more to the point I tend to really like my own cooking. Right now I probably have at least two weeks food in my refrigerator and freezer, and even more in supplies. And I have not been hoarding at all. It is important to note that I live alone, so it's every easy to create a lot of meals for me. Plus, while I am not exactly Miss Twiggy, I don't have very much of an appetite, so not very much food goes a very long way.
A couple of days ago I made pizza from scratch, and still have two meals worth in the freezer. Yesterday I baked an eye of round and it will give me more meals than I will probably be able to consume, meaning at least five. If I can correctly use my bread machine (it's a relatively new one that I hadn't used in about two years and so screwed up the bread baking three days ago) one loaf of bread will be quite a few meals. I do have some bacon and eggs to use up.
For me, the not being able to go out is not much more than a nuisance, since I'm pretty good at cooking for myself. I do appreciate that for many others it is more of a hardship. I do hope that being able to do carry out at local restaurants is helpful.
Yesterday I was able to get together with a couple of friends. We ordered carry out from a local restaurant, and I will say that it was a distinct pleasure to eat something not of my own cooking for the first time in more than two weeks.
