My mom would give us Chinese food occasionally, when it wasnt roast and another roast and then another roast. On the random night thered be fried chicken. But mostly Kansas City beef. With an occasional break for canned Chung King Chinese food.

That was my introduction to "Chinese" food. Some kind of chow me in over crunchy noodles.
