on the flip side we had massive racism depending on where you lived depended a lot of who they disliked. I lived in Chicago and while no one seemed to have obvious hate to minorities on a city bus or the el neighborhoods were "color coded". But other minorities were also disliked in the city and listening over any neighbors fence or the corner bar and you would pick up plenty of buzz words even if you were five years old.
But many had dreams of a better time. They never thought we would go backwards and have to fight to earn those rights again.
