This Australian song is about care of a man's animals after he dies. However, the "abos" referred to in one verse actually means

"n., pl. ab•os.
usage: This term is a slur and should be avoided. It is used with disparaging intent and is perceived as highly insulting.

and refers to human beings.

The song was written in 1957, was a hit world-wide in the 1960's. The verse referring to abos was deleted in 1964 and is not on the author's website.

I'm not surprised that the song was written as recently as 1957 -- Australia was quite racist for many years after that.
