"You did this credit wrong."

Me. "Ok show me how you want it done and I'll fix it."

"You have to charge them back for the shipping cost out to them and then back to us."

Me. "Yes, normally we do but they already paid the shipping cost out when they paid the original invoice. So I'm only charging them the shipping back to us for the return."

"No you still have to charge them back for shipping both ways."

Me. "But they would be paying the shipping 3 times."

(Boss looks completely baffled, shakes her head)

"Just change it so the charge back for shipping both ways is on the credit."

Me. " Ok. So do you want to do a separate credit for the shipping they paid on the original invoice?"

(Boss looking really irritated toward me) " I don't know how to help you understand the customer has to pay shipping both ways. She doesn't get credit for the shipping."

Me. "Yes Ma'am"

**********

3 days later the customer calls and has a fit. Shipping was $879 so we aren't talking small potatoes. Customer end up on phone with the business owner raising all heck who goes to talk to my boss. Boss says *I* don't understand credits.

***********

Fast forward 6 months they "downsize me". 2 months after that when I'm nicely settled in someplace else that pays more money the business owner calls and practically begs me to come back.
