(2,302 posts)18. Miss Fisher's Murder Mysteries
It's from Australia, and they're planning a movie version to be started soon.
Miss Fisher is a modern woman in 1928, an aristocrat who was bored with flower-arranging and the sons of the privileged upper class, and decided to make herself an exciting life. She becomes a detective and solves murders and other crimes. This series ran for three seasons and is pretty impressive in its dramatization of Kerry Greenwood's books...frank talk about gays and Lesbians, birth control, and what a woman's place in society can be. Plus great scenery, vintage vehicles, and gorgeous clothes! And fun.
