When I worked on call in Radiology it varied from hospital to hospital.. Some times it was 1/2 your hourly rate or a fixed amount like $2-$5 per hour of $25 per shift. If you got called in it was time and one half for "time served". This was on top of your normal salary. Some admins got cute and would do like what was in the article and if it was not busy, send you home so you would not incur overtime and make the admin's look good. Better bonus at your expense. Sometimes they would do that even when you were busy to the jeopardy of the patients..
It was all about the money NOT patient care..
I'm glad I retired when this crap started to go wide spread.
