Alamogordo, New Mexico; March 8th, 2016. Long-time Otero County resident, Denise Lang, filed as a candidate for New Mexico House District #51 at the Otero County Clerk’s Office today, March 8th. This is Denise Lang’s first venture into state politics and her priorities are: equality of rights, investment in children’s education and well-being, and the responsible stewardship of public lands.

“Additionally, I recognize the importance of alternative energy and responsible management of our public resources. More significantly, I understand the vitality and value of the people of Otero County.” When questioned about her motivation to run, Lang answered, “I made the decision to run based on feedback from this community. Many of my future constituents do not feel they are represented by the incumbent.”

Ms. Lang’s commitment to Alamogordo and Otero County is demonstrated by her involvement in the Veterans Suicide Prevention program, the Otero County NAACP, Alamogordo AIDS Awareness, Otero County Community Health Council, Behavioral Health Local Collaborative 12, Peace and Justice of La Luz, and Books Behind Bars.

Denise Lang has a degree in accounting and worked in Otero County as an accountant with a CPA firm, staff accountant for the City of Alamogordo, finance officer for the Boys and Girls Club, business manager at a cancer treatment center, and as a smoking cessation specialist.

“I welcome input from folks who want to make Otero County and New Mexico the healthy, prosperous places they deserve to be.” Denise Lang can be contacted at 575/446-8583
