I recently lost very good friend of mine who, while he was a Boston Jewish/Italian, also loved Latin American culture in general and Willy Bobo in particular. He was 73, and, I believe, once met Bobo in New York - as well as Poncho Sánchez, Joe Cuba, Tania María, and other Latin/Brazilian Jazz greats.

Sometimes when I think of him, I put one of those albums on to remember him by. Between you and me, I often suspect the departed do in fact listen in (you never know!).

Here's to your wonderful aunt - and to you, my good sir.

All the best.
