6. That's one of interesting aspects of wind and solar

It really is a conservative idea - being independent from the grid - self reliant.

One of the reasons the renewable energy credits keep getting extended is because of who benefits the most - rural land owners.

So a rancher in West Texas has a bunch of land that somebody wants to build a wind farm on. He gets $500 a month per windmill (that's the last number I saw anyway). And the windmills don't take up all the land either. 100 windmills would net $600,000 a year! Try making that with cattle on that wind swept grub land.

ERCOT pretty much does what's best for Texas and they have a lot of wind and solar resources.
