6. Alpha Lipoic Acid may have saved my life

Not many years ago, I was experiencing severe pain in my lower abdomen. I went to ER at a new hospital when I could barely walk because of the pain. The ER doc diagnosed a UTI and gave me an antibiotic. I took it for almost three days, but was becoming very ill throughout a weekend and on Monday morning called my internist. I described my symptoms and pain and she directed me to go to ER immediately - and this time I went to my normal hospital. They ran a couple of tests and rushed me to emergency surgery for a burst appendix as I was already in sepsis. I could have died! I go to a natural health clinic for thyroid treatment (Hashimoto’s), and they have me on several supplements. My practitioner there told me it was likely the alpha lipoic acid I take saved me. It is therefore one supplement I will take for the rest of my life. From what I am reading here, it works for many things.

Side note: I demanded an investigation of my misdiagnosis at the first hospital. I only owed them $70, so money was not the issue. I just didn’t want that doctor to be so neglectful of future patients. After writing the CEO, they looked into it, cancelled my bill and returned over $800 to my insurance company. I will obviously never go there again.
