I have said it for decades. A clean house/room/space always helps with depression and anxiety. Just being able to move around without tripping over things. To be able to sit in a room and relax in the feeling that it looks fresh and ready for use. I cannot explain the intricacies of why this works for me, but it does. And, as stated above, the act of cleaning always seems to be calming and stress-reducing.
