puppies turn up in pet shops, craigslist, online yard sale sites. When they turn up with health issues, they are often brought into animal shelters and those of us who work in animal rescue break our necks trying to place them with rescue groups. We saw it with dalmations many years ago after the movie, 1001 Dalmations. We saw it with chihuahuas after the Taco Bell commercials. When their breeder stock starts to age, they bring them into the county animal shelters where they are sometimes euthanized for lack of space. Do a google search for puppy mills, esp. Amish puppy mills.
