Sheriff's deputies seek abducted San Ardo teen and her boyfriend, who's a suspect

UPDATE: The Amber Alert remains in effect for Eunice Serrato. She is believed to be traveling, against her will, with her boyfriend, suspect Juan Manuel Salazar Jr. The Sheriff's Office says they are believed to be heading south toward Mexico. Sherrif's deputies say Serrato and Salazar may be traveling with a third person, Rogelio Aviles, 21, described as about 5-foot-5, 150 to 170 pounds, with black hair and brown eyes. Aviles is considered a person of interest. An associated vehicle of Aviles' is a tan 2007 Honda Civic, license number 6JUK098 ...
Deputies said owners Jose and Marina Serrato returned to their home at 62240 Railroad Ave. at about 10 p.m. and found the bodies of Hector Reyes, 33, and Daniel Fraga, 35, in the bathroom of the house, dead of gunshot wounds. Deputies said the victims have no known relationship to the home owners ...
In addition, the Serratos' daughter, Eunice Serrato, 16, was missing from the house, deputies said, and an Amber Alert has been issued for her.
Serrato's boyfriend, Juan Manuel Salazar Jr., 19, and his father, Juan Manuel Salazar, 39, both of Paso Robles, were being sought as persons of interest in the case, deputies said.

Suspect in double homicide, kidnapping is released

... According to Monterey County Jail staff, Juan Manuel Salazar Jr., 19, was freed from custody Thursday night .
Salazar Jr. of Paso Robles was booked into county jail after he and his girlfriend, Eunice Serrato, 16, turned themselves over to agents at the U.S.-Mexico border a week ago, a week after an Amber Alert was issued for the girl.
The two were sought by law enforcement after Hector Reyes, 22, and Daniel Fraga, 25, were found shot dead July 28 in the bathroom of the San Ardo home of Serratos parents.
Chuck Olvis, a county managing deputy district attorney, said Friday that people are usually released from custody when they are not charged within a certain time period ...

SALINAS, Calif. -- Mother of Alleged Kidnapping Son in Court. The mother of Juan Manuel Salazar, the boyfriend accused of kidnapping 16-year-old San Ardo teen Eunice Serrato was arraigned this afternoon.
The 36-year-old mother was charged with one felony count of child endangerment and one misdemeanor count of obstructing a peace officer.
In a bizarre twist to the statewide Amber Alert her attorney, Eugene Martinez told Central Coast news that both Eunice and her boyfriend were already in Mexico for a few days and that Rodriguez played a part in bringing the two back to the U.S. "We obtained and retained a private investigator who traveled there and she cooperated to a degree and those kids came across safely and soundly at the Tijuana border about 14 hours after my client was contacted by police," said Martinez ...
