A 23-year-old man was arrested early Wednesday morning after officers say he shot at two police vehicles. According to Assistant Chief William Pierson, an officer was preparing to stop a suspicious man in the 100 block of 11th Street S.E.
As the officer was about to exit his vehicle, the suspect shot at the officer, striking the driver's side windshield.
The suspect then fled on foot to the 1200 block of A Street S.E. where he shot at another police officer who had been called to the area to assist in the initial call. That officer was not injured but bullets did hit the driver's side door of his patrol car.
The officer returned one round but did not strike the suspect. The suspect fled the second location but was found hiding in a yard in the 100 block of 12th Street S.E. He was taken into custody. Police recovered the suspect's shotgun ...

Auburn Police exchange gunfire with man before arrest

AUBURN, Wash. -- Two Auburn Police officers took shotgun fire early Wednesday morning before arresting the man they say fired on them.
An Auburn Police officials says an officer was approaching a man described as suspicious in the 100 block of 11th St SE just before 1 a.m. Before the officer was able to get out of his patrol car, the man allegedly fired at the officer with a shotgun and hit the windshield on the drivers side.
Police say the man then ran and the officer called for backup. A second officer joined the first officer in the chase and thats when the man is said to have fired a second time. Again the gunshot hit a patrol car. The second officer returned fire.
The man was found and arrested in a yard in the 100 block of 12th St SE. Police say they found a shotgun as well. Were told the man who was arrested is 23 years old, but his name has yet to be released ...
