Mansfield man allegedly pulls gun on salesmen [View all]
MANSFIELD A former Texas man licensed in his native state to carry a concealed weapon got a tough lesson in gun laws in Massachusetts, allegedly after he pulled a handgun on two aggressive door-to-door salesmen.
Charles C. Cook, 51, is free now on $5,000 cash bail following his arraignment Monday in Attleboro District Court. But Cook spent the weekend behind bars after he was arrested Friday at West Village Apartments on West Street.
Police say he confronted two men selling magazines outside his neighbors apartment Friday night by pointing a handgun he held in his jacket pocket and telling them to move on.
The men had gone to Cooks apartment first while he and his fiancé were eating dinner, before Cook told the men he was not interested, according to police.
