14. Better to do it now when you are in control of the move, rather than waiting

until it's a crisis.

I've been working with my brother and his wife to get them moved to assisted living, and they are totally in crisis mode. I am so frustrated, because they absolutely have the financial resources for this.

And independent living isn't remotely an old folk's home. I suspect that your real problem is that you've lived in your current home for 30 or more years, not used to relocating, and so just aren't that adaptable or flexible. Honestly, once you get into your new place you will love it. I hear that over and over again from people who were completely opposed to the move, and then discovered that their lives opened up tremendously.

Oh, and do let us know how it goes. Give us periodic reports, please.
