I've never used Reddit, but did suggest to my friend that he take the part to a Honda dealer. They wouldn't even talk to him unless he brought the whole car in, which is not operable or registered yet. He's also afraid they'd charge him some ridiculous fee for just looking at it and telling him what the part is.

Beyond that, I don't know how to help him, so I'll see if I can figure Reddit out for this purpose. He's going to an auto dismantler today to try to match the gizmo from another '93, if he can find one. He may have to go to a dealer in the end, but is trying to avoid it.
