4. Sandhill Cranes here in central Florida are often rather tame

 

especially at this site. These cranes (both parents were there) are already used to photographers following them around. As long as you stayed about 20ft away they were fine. They were protective of their chicks and they'd make faint calls to their young if you got much closer.
