8. I wish I would have played Basic

I had an old red box of Basic (a friend even had the old original game with the “fighting man” class, but honestly. . . ) that my parents got me for Christmas at the same time they got me the AD&D books. Being eleven years old I naturally assumed “advanced” meant “better” and so never paid much attention the the Basic stuff. A lot of old players assure me it was the better, cleaner system.
