We have no idea where matter came from initially or any of the rest of the cosmos. We have barely been off the planet and there are 100 billion planets in our own galaxy in a universe that is unbounded by time or space. Much of what we now "know" to be true scientifically will be discredited theories in a few decades. It is highly possible if not likely that there are "things" that no sense perception or device can detect.
