3. Not at all. The American show is not a remake of the French one.

It is based on the American novel by Jason Mott, which I read last week.

There have been any number of changes from the novel to the series, which is to be expected, mainly so it can be a series, not a two hour movie.

The French one is in many ways far more mysterious. People have secrets in their past which are only slowly revealed. In at least one case a characters thinks the returned one is a ghost, pure and simple.

I hope this isn't an inadvertent plot spoiler for the American show, but in the novel a lot of people think the returned are instruments of Satan, not fully human, and important plot aspects revolve around that. So far anyway, that's not been an issue in the French show.

Do watch it if you can. It's on Netflix streaming.
