1. Anyone who believes being a parish priest

in today's USA is easy should think again.
They usually are the only priest , in many parishes, and illness strikes or other reason for not being available, the parish is in a pickle.
My parish has had a retired priest in residence as an assistant to the pastor for ca the last 20 years. The REtired priest we had for about 3-4 yrs just died of pancreatic cancer. - He said Mass until the last 2 or 3 months.
The pastor needs hip surgery.
I don't know what the plans are to fill the need.
