2016 Postmortem
In reply to the discussion: I know DU is Bernie Country, but in response to an earlier thread about Rachel's Interview of HRC [View all]Armstead
(47,803 posts)for 30 years to allow the rich to have enough money to create good jobs for Americans. Except ibnstead, they have takebn the money, removerd or dervalued those jobs and buy themselves 30 vacation estates, leaving a larger number of Americans wondering how to pay the mortage on a single home or the rent on a crappy apartment while also paying those other bills that seem to keep going up.
And, gee, with all those tax breaks for the wealthy, and giveaway trade deals and corporate subsidies and a rigged financial system we're hurting for money in the public till too.
Yeah and you begrudge college kids who are told they "have to get an education to survive today" but can;t find ways to afford thasst, and want a break
Sure we need accounting and fiscal responsibility all of that. But we've gone overboard in that diorection over the last 35 years. It that has to be balanced by a basic sense of morality, ethics and social responsibility in our policies.
Enough conservative bean counting.
