2016 Postmortem
In reply to the discussion: Why Hillary will win. Dumbed down in two words. [View all]The Velveteen Ocelot
(115,681 posts)12. That was an excellent movie. I liked it very much.
But the fact that a good actor who starred in a good movie has endorsed a particular candidate is not sufficient to make me vote for that candidate. You do know, don't you, that Morgan Freeman was playing a fictional character? That he was not actually that character? Did you know that he played a pimp in another movie, Street Smart? Here's another example: Mel Gibson, who is as mad as a box of frogs and holds extremely retrograde views, is also a fine actor (or was, until he kind of went nuts). He was in a couple of my favorite movies, The Year of Living Dangerously and Gallipoli. I can assure you that his endorsement of a candidate would not change my mind, either.

Dumbed-down is right.. her endorsement by the "Voice of God" didn't hurt, that's for sure. nt

First you want to tell us who to vote for and now you want to mess with religious freedom.

Apparently you didn't see him in The Bucket List (another implausible role)

In the movie "Lucy" wasn't he selling the lie that people only use 10% of their brains?

Freeman's a talented actor who sometimes chooses poor material (sorta explains the Clinton ad)

You could always go in reverse on that one-way. Of course, there's always the third way....
