Bernie is pretty libertarian in the modern meaning. He's closer to Gary Johnson than he is to Barack Obama. My point had nothing to do with gun control. I recognize he's from a rural state so historically has supported state rights and some gun rights, just as Hillary represented a state that depends heavily on international commerce, so historically has been more sympathetic to Wall St. than has Sanders. I don't fault either of them really. That's politics. But, I do mean that Bernie is quite libertarian on foreign affairs, defining libertarian more along the lines of Gary Johnson than Rand Paul.
