2016 Postmortem
In reply to the discussion: Play-Doh? [View all]Hortensis
(58,785 posts)34. Yes. Unfortunately, many amateur-gathered supplies end up
trashed -- overseas, often dumped in piles to rot right where they arrived. Workers in disaster areas simply can't fuss over stuff that isn't wanted or needed. And donors often greatly misunderstand what people are going to want. A well-meaning church group's wardrobe cullings, for instance, may be about as welcome as those from an Indonesian village would be to Oklahoma flood victims.
The Donald interrupting hard-working relief workers to photo-op was such a disgusting display of hypocrisy and opportunism that I'm glad to see it's backfiring somewhat. Play-Doh!
